Malbec has a very intense and dark cherry-red color, almost black. Malbec wines are warm, soft and with very pleasant sweet tannins. Fruity aromas during its youth, it then evolves with aromas of cinnamon and touches of vanilla. These are wines with great body, structure and depth. Malbec is the typical variety of Mendoza.
While Argentinean red wines enjoy worldwide prestige and shine in rankings and contests, many wineries concentrate resources in the production of white wines. Dozens of new labels of these wines arrive in the market and it is not surprising that their value is higher than the most recognized red wines. Many winemakers prefer to show that in Argentina there is skill and terroir to produce
international recognized wine.
Sparkling wine might be the most technical of all wines in the world–even if it is so easy to drink! The reason most sparkling wine is so complex is because of the need for two fermentations; one to make wine and the other to make bubbles. Since sparkling wines were first introduced (starting in the mid 1500’s), several processes have been developed and each result in a unique sub-style of sparkling wine. Take a look at the major sparkling wine production methods and which wines are made with each technique.
Mendoza is one of the greatest wine regions of the world. With more than 1,500 wineries spread out through the three main wine regions - Lujan de Cuyo, Valle de Uco and Maipu - wide open spaces with nothing but vines, mountain grandeur and blue skies, and some of the best winery architecture in the world, it is a spot you truly don't want to miss.
